Yes. You can obtain a registration estimate online here.
The only transaction that you may process for another person is a renewal of registration. You must have the original or copy of the registration to complete.
All other transactions: transfers, new registrations, plate changes, duplicate registrations, and decal changes must be completed by the primary owner only. If the primary owner is unable to conduct the transaction, they will need to complete a notarized power of attorney authorizing the individual to complete said transaction.
All NEW motor vehicle registrations must be started in person at the Town Clerk’s office, by the owners listed on the title or current registration. We can process any necessary title paperwork and hand you your new plates and registration.
RENEWALS are done each year in your birth month. These can be done either in-person (up to 4 months in advance) or online here about one month prior to the month of expiration. Your new registration and decals will be mailed to you.
The Town Clerk's office collaborates with the Fire Department/Fire Auxiliary, who put on a yearly rabies clinic every spring. This is a great chance to get your pet vaccinated at a reduced rate- right here in town!
Representatives from our office are in attendance so that you can license your dog at the rabies clinic as well!
Yes, we do offer notary services. We typically have 4 notaries available. There is no charge for this service, however, we encourage you to make an appointment if there is a large number of signatures we will be notarizing.
How do I get a certified copy of a birth, death, divorce, or marriage certificate?
The event MUST have taken place in New Hampshire. You can request a certified copy in writing either by mail, on-line or in person. You must be a member of the immediate family (no cousins, no in-laws) or have a direct and tangible interest in the record. The cost of the certified copy is $15.00 for the first copy and $10.00 for any subsequent copies ordered at the same time for the same person. The written request will need to include the name(s) of the registrant(s) and approximate date of the event. Also you must state your relationship or your interest in the record. NH State Law requires identification when requesting a certified record or search. You will need to send a copy of your picture ID when requesting a record by mail, or show picture ID when you come in person.

Birth Records: 1935 until present (except 1949 and 1950)
Death Records: 1965 until present
Marriage Records: 1960 until present
Divorce Records: 1979 to within 6 months from the present search date
Civil Unions: 2008 and 2009
Civil Union Dissolutions: 2008 to within 6 months from the present search date

Kingston Marriages, Births, Deaths & Mortgages 1903-1913
There are three ways to register to vote in Kingston:
1) You may register at the Town Clerk’s during regular business hours up to 6-10 days before the election.
2) You may register with the Supervisors of the Checklist during one of their posted sessions.
3) You may register at the polls the day of the election.
Requirements
- Identity (driver’s license or passport)
- In order to register to vote, you must be 18 at the time of the next election
- Proof of citizenship (such as a birth certificate/passport), naturalized citizens must present their naturalization papers
- Proof of residency (i.e driver’s license or vehicle registration)
Dog licenses, which are required by State statue, expire on April 30 of each year. To register or renew your dog license, you will need to bring proof of rabies vaccination.
How much does it cost?
- Puppy (ages 4-7 months) $7.50
- Neutered or spayed dogs $7.50
- Unaltered male of female dog $10.00
- Senior citizen dog $3.00 (owner who is 65 years old or older on the first dog only)
We begin licensing dogs for the new year in January.

The Town Clerk's Office accepts cash, check and all major credit cards.
Checks should be made payable to the Town of Kingston. There is only one check needed for both town & state fees.
For credit card/debit card purchases, please note that there is a 2.99% fee in addition to your registration cost. With a minimum fee of $2.50 minimum fee. These fees go directly to our third-party processor and are not retained by the Town.
Twenty-day temporary plates are NOT available at the Town Clerk's office. You can get these at the DMV with a valid bill of sale. The plate will only be issued to the person to which the car was sold, otherwise, another person would need written permission from the buyer.
