Health Department

Every Week is Septic Smart Week! The EPA has created some informational videos, which can be found via this LINK.

Notice:

Private well owners should test their well water every three to five years for pollutants commonly found in New Hampshire's groundwater, like arsenic, which is estimated to be present at unhealthy levels in 1 in 5 domestic water wells in the state. Many contaminants cannot be detected by taste or smell, only through laboratory testing. The "Be Well Informed" interactive web application from the NH Department of Environmental Services is designed to help you interpret your water test results and, if your well water has contaminants above state or federal standards and guidelines, will provide information about health concerns and appropriate water treatment options. To try "Be Well Informed", have your water testing laboratory report handy and visit the NH Department of Environmental Services website.

All septic system designs must be approved by the Health Officer prior to their submittal to the State Department of Environmental Services.

Contact the Deputy Health Officer for questions or to arrange an inspection
